Term 2 Novel Study

This term I have been reading and studying the novel Run

I found this novel interesting because its theme was good

During the novel I had to complete a thinking map which shows that I can classify how the author has shown the theme of the book.

National Standard this covers

  • Year 9/10 Standard
    • I can locate, evaluate, analyse and summarise information and ideas within texts and across a range of texts.
    • I have a large vocabulary that is connected to my own knowledge about the world and includes: - academic e.g observe vs watch - subject-specific (specific words about a subject (e.g feline) - technical terms (specialized vocabulary of a particular field.)

Overall I would give this novel a rating of  8/10 and I would / would not recommend it to others to read because it has a good moral and because it tells you about polio.

1 home learning challenge (exellence)

This week we gave a bed head to the salvation army. My young sister is growing fast so we often put clothes in the clothing bin.

1 leadership exellence (other)

This week in Kapa Haka we learnt how to do the Haka and to be honest. It was kinda hard to remember the actions and get the stance right. After Kapa Haka I also helped out put the BBQ machine away. I showed my care values by helping teachers and respecting the Maori culture.

1 leadership exellence (key role)

This week I put Britian's flag and the normal New Zealand flag and the reception teachers and Mrs.Ward are proud of me and Mrs.Ward also said she might give me a bucket filler award.I showed my care values by doing my job on time, respecting the teachers and respecting the flag.

Current Events Term 2, 2017

WALT: I can successfully research a current event.
Here is a link to our online modelling book for this unit of learning.

The National Standard that I have been aiming for during this unit of learning

  • Year 9/10: I can read in different ways to find and/or understand information that that is not immediately easy to access or is not organised in familiar ways.

Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.

Here is some evidence of my learning.

My Next Step is to continue to  apply the reading and  research skills that I have learned in a variety of other areas.

Music Term 2

For Music this term, three things I learnt were:
1. rapping
2. different type of artist
3. mother nature rap

Something I found challenging was separating the NZ artists from the world artists
